How can we help

SWACA is committed to providing free and confidential services to women. We will always strive to enable women, and their children, who have experienced domestic abuse, to be able to continue to live safely in their own homes free from the risk of further domestic abuse.

Sometimes, however, this isn’t possible due to the high risks involved, and women can find themselves needing to urgently escape the family home and the perpetrator of the abuse. This can be a traumatic and very unsettling experience and take significant courage.

SWACA is here to help.

We provide a dedicated specialist refuge service, located within the borough of Sefton, to enable women, and their children (where applicable), to access emergency accommodation.

Service user safety is paramount to SWACA.

How we do it

We undertake a full initial assessment of need with all service users seeking to access our refuge, to ensure our refuge service is appropriate for individual circumstances.

We provide 1:1 emotional and practical support for all service users, and their children while they are living in refuge, addressing a range of impacts resulting from their experiences of domestic abuse.

We will also support our service users to, at an appropriate point, identify, and secure, longer-term alternative accommodation to move onto.

All service users living in refuge will have access to the range of services provided by SWACA for non-residential service users.
